Agreed The Seattle Mariners agreed to a minor league contract with former Cleveland reliever Rafael Perez. Perez last pitched in the majors in 2012 with the Indians and made 338 relief appearances from 2006-12.

Remembered Eight months after Tony Gwynn died of cancer, it’s time to play baseball again at San Diego State. Gwynn played basketball and baseball at SDSU, had a 20-year, Hall of Fame career with the Padres and then returned to his alma mater to coach the baseball team. The Aztecs will honor Gwynn by retiring his No. 19 tonight at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

Avoided The Kansas City Royals and reliever Kelvin Herrera agreed on a $4.15 million, two-year deal that avoids arbitration, a person familiar with the negotiations said. The 25-year-old Herrera made just $522,250 last season and was eligible for arbitration for the first time after compiling a 1.41 ERA.

• Third baseman Casey McGehee and the San Francisco Giants agreed to a $4.8 million, one-year contract and avoided salary arbitration. San Francisco acquired the 32-year-old from the Miami Marlins in December.

Signed The New Orleans Saints agreed on one-year contracts with veteran linebacker Parys Haralson and veteran place kicker Shayne Graham. The 6-foot, 255-pound Haralson played in all 16 games for New Orleans last season, starting 12. The 37-year-old Graham, who first joined the Saints late in 2013, has played 14 NFL seasons, including all of last season with New Orleans.

Promoted The St. Louis Rams promoted quarterbacks coach Frank Cignetti to offensive coordinator, replacing Brian Schottenheimer, who left in January to become offensive coordinator at the University of Georgia. The Rams also promoted tight ends coach Rob Boras to assistant head coach for the offense.

Relinquished Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy is handing off the play-calling duties to Tom Clements, whom he promoted from offensive coordinator to associate head coach. The Packers led the NFL in scoring in 2014 and quarterback Aaron Rodgers won his second Most Valuable Player award.

Selected Athletic directors Jim Schaus and Kevin White will become the newest members of NCAA men’s basketball selection committee next season. Each will begin serving in September. Schaus has been at Ohio since April 2008. White has been Duke’s athletic director for six years.
