Obituary: Donder, Roy Edward

Age 83

DONDER, Roy Edward (Age 83) Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.

Roy was born to Carl and Sybil Donder on Wednesday, July 29, 1931 in Spokane, WA where he resided for 78 years.

He has resided in Hemet, CA for the past five years.

While attending Lewis & Clark High School, he won the MVP for his baseball team during the 1948-1949 school term.

Roy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.

Roy worked for the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad Company for more than 41 years.

He was a 60 year member of the Transportation Communications Union /IAM.

He enjoyed playing poker, fishing, and traveling, especially cruising.

One of Roy’s proudest achievements was the fact that during his lifetime he donated more than 10 gallons of blood.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Clara Donder; daughters, Monica (Jim) Babine, Kim (Monte) Rossi, DeAnna (David) Patton, and Janet (Tim) Crafts; grandchildren, Tosha, Mariko (Cole), Derek, and Whitney; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Ayelet and dear friend Jim Reiter.

Services are scheduled for Friday, February 20, 2015 at Riverside National Cemetery at 12:15 pm.

Roy touched many lives and will be truly missed by all those who were honored to know him and who loved him.
