Obituary: Miller, Kay Lynn

Age 70

MILLER, Kay Lynn (Age 70) Kay Lynn Miller, former longtime Oakesdale, WA resident, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 surrounded by her family.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Oakesdale Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Fire Station.

Kay was born on April 17, 1944 to Alfred “Bud” and Loyce (Masters) O’Halloran in Spokane, WA.

Shortly after she was born, the family moved to Tekoa, WA and then to a ranch in Clyde Park, MT in 1950.

In 1962, Kay graduated from Clyde Park High School and went on to attend classes at Eastern Montana University in Billings.

Attendance at Kinman Business School in Spokane brought her back to Washington where she met and later married Jerry Shahan on December 19, 1964.

Kay worked as a doctor’s assistant for the Spokane Eye Clinic and then in 1968 the couple settled in Oakesdale to raise their two children.

Kay sold Avon for 18 years and liked the flexibility of being self-employed.

In 1987, she began working at the Farm Service Agency in Colfax, WA and enjoyed visiting with the many farmers throughout the county.

On November 11, 1989, Kay married Marshall G. Miller and they enjoyed many years of traveling to various destinations.

Kay retired in 2006 and she and Marshall moved to Spokane in 2009.

Kay’s biggest hobby was keeping up with her grandkids.

She enjoyed attending their various activities and planned her schedule around them.

She is survived by her husband, Marshall G. Miller of Spokane, WA; daughter Katrina (Ross) Rambo; granddaughter Kaitlyn Rambo; grandson Austin Rambo all of Spangle, WA; sister Joan Knodel of Bozeman, MT; and brother Mike O’Halloran of Wilsall, MT as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Stuart Shahan.

Memorials in Kay’s honor are suggested to the donor’s choice.
