Obituary: Karstens, Jerald Ronald

KARSTENS, Jerald Ronald 3/1936 - 2/2015 Jerry (Papa Bear) passed away Friday evening at Holy Family Hospital with family by his side.

He died from complications after his hip surgery.

Jerry is survived by his children, Carol Lynn Karstens Gove of Redmond OR, Ronald Karstens of Riverside WA, Charles Karstens and wife Lori, Jean Karstens both of Spokane, WA and Kit Karstens of Elko, NV; survived by 13 grand- children: Danielle, Ryan, Alicia, Anna, Jason, Jannessa, DeAnna, Kellie, Demi, Kit, Ashleigh, Sean and Baily; 9 great-grandchildren: Paige, Deagan, George, Mylo, Cooper, Jackson, Alivia, Frankie and Ramero.

Jerry served honorably and received an honorable discharge from all four branches of our Military!

He began his Military career as a medic in 1954 in the U.S. Air Force then served in the U.S. Navy followed by the U.S. Marine Corps ending in the U.S. Army.

Jerry served tours in Vietnam as well as Desert Storm: He was a firefighter for the CA Forest Service and a fire fighter for the Folsom CA Fire dept.

In his young years he was an avid Go Kart racer, Jerry loved the outdoors; he loved to camp, fish, hike, and hunt.

Jerry also loved flowers and collecting bears.

Private family services will be held.

Dad, Pops, Papa Bear, Grandpa Jerry, Jerry - you will be greatly missed by all of us.
