Walter named Whitworth’s writer-in-residence
Spokane novelist Jess Walter has been named the Spring 2015 writer-in-residence at Whitworth University.
As part of the program, the National Book Award finalist and New York Times best-selling author will hold two free events on campus.
The first is Tuesday. He’ll read some works, and participate in a question-and-answer session hosted by Thom Caraway, an assistant professor and Spokane’s first poet laureate. The event will be in the Robinson Teaching Theatre in Weyerhaeuser Hall at 7 p.m.
At 7 p.m. March 31, Walter will present a lecture in the Music Building Recital Hall.
During the residency, the college community and beyond is invited to read Walter’s first short story collection, “We Live in Water,” which is the focus of his public events.
Whitworth is located at 300 W. Hawthorne Road.
