Achievements: Students earn academic honors

Students from the area have earned academic honors nationwide for the fall 2014 semester. Grade-point averages are calculated on a 4.0 scale, unless otherwise noted.

• Hillsdale College, in Hillsdale, Michigan, named Jacob Thackston to the dean’s list for earning a grade-point average of 3.4 or more for the semester. He is the son of Spokane residents Jason and Julie Thackston.

Kira Renfro, of Spangle, earned a 4.0 grade-point average to be named to the provost’s list at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. Jackson Hathaway, of Colbert, earned a grade-point average of at least 3.5 at Hofstra to be named to the dean’s list.

• Benedictine College, in Atchison, Kansas, named David Roth, of Newman Lake, to the dean’s list for earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or more for the semester.

• Newman Lake resident Joseph Roth was named to the dean’s list at the University of Dallas, in Irving, Texas, for earning a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or more.

Justin Bonanno has been named to the dean’s list at Bethel University, in St. Paul, Minnesota, after earning a grade-point average of 3.6 or more for the semester. Bonanno is the son of Colbert residents Eric and Robin Bonanno.

• Medical Lake resident Jennifer Lucas has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, after earning at least a 3.25 grade-point average for the semester.

Kara Hock, of Mead, earned a grade-point average between 3.65 and 3.74 to be named to the dean’s list at University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota.

• Spokane resident Byron Coffey earned a grade-point average of 3.2 or more for the semester to be named to the honor list at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri.

Joseph LeDuc, of Spokane, has been named to the dean’s list at Wake Forest University, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, after he earned a 3.4 grade-point average or more during the semester.

• Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska, recently named local residents to the dean’s list for maintaining a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the semester. Students are listed by their hometown.
