Boys hoops: Colfax holds off Northwest Christian

Kasey Johnson had 24 points and nine rebounds and Danny Robinson added 20 points and seven boards as Colfax hit enough free throws down the stretch to hold off Northwest Christian’s late surge and claim a 64-61 nonleague win Saturday in Colfax.

The Crusaders (8-3) cut the Bulldogs’ nine-point lead to one late, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

NWC’s Ryan Ricks scored 22 points and David Olds added 15 points and six rebounds.

Colfax won its sixth straight and improved to 9-2.

Rogers 74, Medical Lake 50: Robert Rucker had 17 points and eight assists and Melik Hampton added 12 points and 15 rebounds as the Pirates (7-2) eased past the host Cardinals (5-2). Rogers took control with a 16-0 third-quarter run and won the rebounding battle 35-15. Medical Lake’s Jaelon Smith led all scorers with 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Coeur d’Alene 61, Southridge 55: Colby Daniels scored 15 points and the Vikings (7-3) made 27 of 35 free throws to edge the visiting Suns. CdA’s Joe Naccarato added 12 points and Tony Naccarato chipped in seven points and nine rebounds. Liberty 90, Davenport 45: Clay Fleming had 33 points and nine rebounds and the Lancers (10-1) couldn’t be stopped offensively in a rout of the visiting Gorillas (3-7). Liberty shot 65 percent from the field, including 7 of 14 3-pointers, and committed just four turnovers. The Lancers’ Kyle King hit 3 of 4 3-pointers in the first quarter and added 14 points. Davenport’s Austin Zeller tallied a team-high 12 points.

St. George’s 59, Reardan 53: Cody Peplinski made 11 of 13 free throws and scored 23 points to guide the Dragons (6-5) past the visiting Indians (5-5). Reardan’s Brandon Reuben had 29 points and 12 rebounds and Dan Peone chipped in 12 points, six assists and five boards.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 49, Kettle Falls 40: Cort Ruzicka had 21 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks as the Broncos (5-4) took control early and held on to beat the Bulldogs (0-9) in Ritzville. LRS shot just 30 percent from the field and 16 percent on 3-pointers, but won the rebounding battle 54-23.

Selkirk 50, Clark Fork 21: Jacob Couch scored 18 points and Dominic Cain added 11 as the Rangers (5-4) snapped a three-game losing skid with a win over the host Wampus Cats. Clark Fork’s Eich Anderson tallied a team-high 11 points.

Wilbur-Creston 58, Odessa-Harrington 48: Nick Densley scored 15 points as the Wildcats (9-1) took control in the first half and held on late in a win over the Titans (3-6) in Odessa. Brent Rosman, Trystan Rosman, Colton Magers and Dorian Jaeger all added 10 points for Wilbur-Creston. Shane Whitaker scored a game-high 16 points for O-H.

Springdale 53, Tekoa-Rosalia 29: Chandler Carr scored 13 points and John Lynch added 12 as the Chargers (5-5) dominated from the outset in a win over the Timberwolves (0-10) in Rosalia. Lucas Engel led Tekoa-Rosalia with 11 points.

Curlew 71, Northport 48: The Cougars (9-1) pulled away in the third and fourth quarters and beat the Mustangs (5-4) at the Northport tournament for their fifth-straight win. Hunter Beedle and Cody Grumbach scored 18 points apiece for Curlew. Northport’s Lino Belli had 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Priest River 75, Columbia 20: Thomas Luckey and Anthony Storro combined for 26 points and the Spartans (1-8) wallopped the Lions (0-8) at the Northport tournament.

Republic 51, Oroville 49: The Hornets’ 3-pointer in the final seconds was off the mark and the Tigers (4-3) survived in Republic. Republic’s Taylor Campbell and Aaron Fritts combined for 27 points and Alex Rivera added eight points, eight rebounds and five steals.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 75, Pateros 32: Charles Hunt hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 points and Payton Nielson added 16 points and 20 rebounds as the Warriors (7-2) routed the Billygoats in Coulee City. Pateros managed just 10 first-half points.

Great Northern

Pullman 72, East Valley 53: Micah Lagerquist had 26 points, 15 rebounds and five steals and the Greyhounds (8-1, 1-0) dumped the host Knights (3-6, 0-1). Pullman hit 9 of 16 3-pointers and James Miles made five of them for his 15 points. East Valley’s Dante Clayton tallied a team-high 14 points.

Clarkston 51, Cheney 38: Trevon Allen scored 12 points and Trevor Sperry added 10 as the Bantams (9-0, 1-0) topped the host Blackhawks (5-4, 0-1). Cheney’s Jamiel Worthem tallied a team-high nine points.
