Boys basketball: NWC defeats St. George’s

Ryan Ricks hit a 3-pointer with 6 seconds left to give Northwest Christian a 51-48 win over St. George’s in a Northeast 2B League game Friday night at Northwest Christian.

Ricks finished with 14 points and David Olds and Asher Cox contributed 13 points apiece for the Crusaders (9-4, 6-2), who rallied in the third and fourth quarters to erase a six-point halftime deficit.

The Dragons’ Cody Peplinski led all scorers with 16 points and Isaac Werkman chipped in 11.

The game was the only regular-season meeting between the schools. St. George’s fell to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in league games.

Liberty 68, Wilbur-Creston 44: Match Burnham made all 10 of his free throws and finished with 30 points and 17 rebounds as the Lancers (12-1, 7-0) routed the Wildcats (10-2, 5-2) in Wilbur. Keith Dumaw added 19 points and nine rebounds for Liberty, while Colton Magers tallied a team-high 16 points for Wilbur-Creston.

Reardan 65, Tekoa-Rosalia 38: The Indians (7-5, 4-3) made 11 3-pointers and had four players score in double figures in an easy win over the visiting Timberwolves (0-12, 0-7). Reardan’s Dan Peone made four 3s and led all scorers with 24 points. Tekoa-Rosalia’s Cooper Angelo made five 3s and scored a team-high 21 points.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 49, Davenport 35: Cort Ruzicka scored 10 of his game-high 18 points in the second half and the Broncos (8-3, 5-2) defeated the host Gorillas (3-9, 1-7). Davenport’s Austin Zeller tallied a team-high 11 points.

Colfax 72, Springdale 33: Kasey Johnson scored 17 points, Danny Robinson had 12 and Mark Webber added 11 as the Bulldogs (11-2, 6-1) overwhelmed the host Chargers (5-7, 3-5). Springdale’s Chandler Carr tallied a team-high 14 points.

Great Northern

West Valley 53, Cheney 47: Outscored by 15 points the third quarter, the Eagles (6-3, 1-1) returned the favor in the fourth, outscoring the Blackhawks (4-7, 0-4) by 15 in a win at West Valley. WV led 26-20 at halftime when Cheney came up with 24 points in the third period to take a 44-35 lead. The Eagles outscored the Blackhawks 18-3 in the final period, led by Austin Yoakum, who had six of his 12 points in the quarter. Martin Herford added 14 and Anthony Rice 13 points for West Valley. Gaige Felix was the lone Cheney player in double figures with 13.

Clarkston 61, Pullman 39: Jett Sobotta had 15 points and C.J. Johnson chipped in nine points and seven rebounds as the Bantams (12-0, 4-0) routed the host Greyhounds (8-2, 1-1). Pullman’s Kyle Imler scored a team-high 11 points and Micah Lagerquist pulled down 10 rebounds.

Northeast A

Medical Lake 67, Newport 38: Jaelon Stith made 6 of 12 shots and had 15 points and seven rebounds, and the Cardinals (7-2, 5-0) thoroughly dominated in the first half in coasting past the host Grizzlies (6-5, 1-4). Tellas Johnson added 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Medical Lake, which led 38-9 at the half. Newport’s John Lyon and Kyler Zorica combined for 21 points.

Riverside 63, Chewelah 36: Andrew Kramer and Jesse Anselm combined for 17 first-quarter points as the Rams (10-1, 5-0) grabbed control early and eased past the visiting Cougars (1-10, 0-5). Tyler Axtell led Riverside with 21 points, five steals and four assists. Kramer finished with 15 points and Anselm had 14. The Rams had 19 assists and led 22-4 after the first quarter. Chewelah’s Eli Hubert tallied a team-high nine points.

Lakeside 61, Deer Park 45: Ryan Quigley scored 24 points and Cameron Gay added 16 as the Eagles (9-2, 4-1) closed the game out from the free-throw line and beat the host Stags (4-7, 2-3). Lakeside made 10 of 12 free throws in the fourth to pull away. Deer Park’s Nate Guske scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Freeman 59, Colville 39: Jake Phipps and Ryan Maine scored 17 points apiece and the Scotties (4-6, 2-3) surged after halftime and dumped the injury-plagued Indians (1-9, 1-4) in Colville. Chase Sandaine tallied a team-high seven points for Colville.

Southeast 1B

Pomeroy 82, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 21: Cole Mayfield scored 22 points and Tyson Feider added 11 points and 10 assists as the Pirates (10-1, 5-0) overwhelmed the visiting Tigercats.

St. John-Endicott 57, Oakesdale 46: Robert Staples led three players in double figures with 15 points and the Eagles (5-6, 2-3) topped the Nighthawks (3-7, 1-3) in St. John. Oakesdale’s Tanner Dingman scored 16 points.

Garfield-Palouse 74, Liberty Christian 24: Matt Holbrook had 25 points and six steals and Tyler Thurman added 18 points and six steals as the Vikings (10-0, 5-0) dumped the Patriots in Richland. Garfield-Palouse’s Mitch Jamison added 19 points.

Nonleague

Lake City 51, Moscow 28: Quinn Mitchell and Nick Hancock each had 12 points and seven rebounds as the host Timberwolves (6-5) bounced back from Thursday’s overtime loss to Coeur d’Alene with a win over the Bears.

Lakeland 53, Lewiston 52: Tyrel Derrick converted the go-ahead 3-point play with 20 seconds left and the Hawks (8-2) held on to beat the Bengals in Rathdrum. Jake Ram led Lakeland with 23 points and 10 rebounds. He made five 3-pointers. Derrick finished with 16 points and eight assists.

Republic 76, Kettle Falls 54: Taylor Campbell had 26 points and 10 rebounds and Aaron Fritts added 19 points, six assists and six steals as the Tigers (5-4) dominated in beating the visiting Bulldogs (0-11). Kettle Falls freshman Daniel Truque had 12 points.

Valley Christian 57, Inchelium 49: James Segalla made 17 of 19 free throws and finished with 28 points and 12 rebounds as the Panthers (2-7) topped the visiting Hornets (1-6). Valley Christian made 28 of 39 from the line as a team. Quentin Holford had nine points for Inchelium.

Odessa-Harrington 61, Northport 56: Carsen Weber tossed in a game-high 25 points and the Titans (5-6) fended off the Mustangs’ spirited fourth-quarter rally and won in Northport. The Mustangs (5-5) outscored Odessa-Harrington 22-10 in the final quarter to make things interesting. Northport’s Vithor Martin had 21 points and five assists.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 43, Curlew 41: The Warriors (8-2) hit enough free throws down the stretch to get past the host Cougars (10-2). Curlew had the final possession but couldn’t get off a shot. ACH’s Dallas Isaak scored 13 points and Payton Nielson added 11 points and 10 boards.

Selkirk 61, Columbia 25: Jacob Couch scored 15 points and Logan Miller and Dominic Cain added 10 apiece as the Rangers (6-4) routed the Lions (0-10) in Hunters.
