Zags host to Santa Clara

The Gonzaga men’s basketball team entertains Santa Clara tonight at 5 p.m. at the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Zags have won 33 straight on their home court.

The Broncos (7-9, 2-3 WCC) lost 78-61 at Portland on Thursday. The 61-point total was Santa Clara’s highest in six games. Guards Brandon Clark (15.3 points per game) and Jared Brownridge (13.8) combined to make just 5 of 17 shots against the Pilots. Matt Hubbard, a 6-foot-9 freshman from Colville, starts for the Gaels and averages 7.6 points and 5.1 rebounds.

The Zags (15-1, 4-0) have won eight straight in the series. GU beat the Broncos three times last season; the last two were two-point decisions.
