Obituary: Jenkins, James C.

Age 85

JENKINS, James C. (Age 84) James C. Jenkins, called Jim by friends and family, passed peacefully Thursday evening, May 21, 2015, at Alderwood Manor in Spokane, Washington.

Kay Blackburn Codd Jenkins, Jim’s wife of 43 years, preceded him December 6, 2009.

Jim is survived by his son, Michael Jenkins of Saint John, Washington; daughter, Ellen Niemann of Battle Ground, Washington; stepson, Eugene Codd of Spangle, Washington; sister, Rosemary Fix of Claremont, California and sister, Roberta Rumeiser of Payette, Idaho; five great-grandchildren, and his special friend Dorothy Carroll of Spokane, Washington.

Jim was born in Lewiston, Idaho the son of Charles and Helen Jenkins.

The family later moved to Saint John, Washington where they farmed over 500 acres.

Jim left high school prior to graduation to join the United States Army for a tour of duty, later earning his GED.

He also returned to the military life and retired as a Master Sergeant from the Army having served 27 years as a communications officer with 25 of those years being stationed overseas visiting 135 different countries.

Upon retirement from the military Jim and Kay built a home on six acres outside Spangle, Washington where they enjoyed their retirement years together.

Jim was also an avid Ham radio operator who enjoyed contacting people from all areas of the country and abroad.

A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Steptoe, Washington on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11:00 am.
