Obituary: Hartman, Eloise

HARTMAN, Eloise (Age 89) Our sweet Eloise left us July 7, 2015 with peace and grace which was her nature.

Eloise was born in 1925 on her parents’ farm in northern Missouri, the third of seven children.

There she eventually taught school in a one-room school house during WWII before marrying and moving west with her husband and daughter, Camilla.

They lived in Mt.

Shasta, California, Eugene, Oregon, and finally Spokane, Washington where she lived for 46 years.

She loved the Spokane area with its four distinct seasons, and her home and gardens which she delighted in caring for and sharing with family and friends.

Her community service included tutoring at a local grade school and service as a volunteer at Deaconess Hospital for 24 years.

She was also active in mission work for her church and completed a five-year course in a Women’s Bible Study class.

Travel took her to the Oregon Coast each year, as well as cruises to Mexico and Alaska.

But her true delights were her beloved grandsons, Mark and David Yeend.

Her three great-grandsons were the cherry on her cake.

She always glowed when her growing family gathered around her.

Sadly her husband, Eugene Hartman, passed in 2005, but Eloise remained in her beloved Spokane four more years before moving to Everett, Washington to be near her daughter.

She faced her final challenges from pancreatic cancer with inspiring faith, dying peacefully at age 89.

Eloise is survived by her daughter, Camilla Yeend; grandsons, David Yeend and Mark Yeend; great-grandsons, Hudson, Beckett, and Dashiell Yeend; sisters, Lois Glotzboch, Alice Denver and brother Herbert Patterson.

Her Memorial will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 North Government Way in Spokane, on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m.
