Obituary: Warner, Karl August

Age 67

WARNER, Karl August (Age 67) Karl passed away at his home in Chattaroy Hills, WA on July 9, 2015.

He was born on January 6, 1948 in Iowa City, IA to Donald L. and Louise P. Warner.

Karl traveled the US and Europe due to his father being in the Army.

They settled in Spokane.

Karl attended NCHS before joining the Army as a helicopter mechanic and left seat.

A helicopter crash over Cambodia retired him at age 22.

He met Sherry in 1976 and then married July 14, 1983 at the Coeur d’Alene Hitching Post.

They raised three children and Karl enjoyed attending their school sports and functions.

He went back to college himself for three years.

He resided in several areas of Spokane County and settled in Chattaroy Hills.

Karl loved to cook and cheesecake was his specialty.

His favorite saying was “Eat your heart out Rachael Ray.”

His sense of humor, bright smile, twinkle in his eyes, and generous heart will be missed.

Karl was a member of the 11th Armored Cavalry’s Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia, Disabled American Veterans, and a lifetime member of the Handyman Club of America.

Karl is survived by his wife Sherry (friend and partner of 38 years); sons Johnathan Warner of Chattaroy, WA and Nickolas Warner of Spokane, WA; daughter Jessica Warner of Spokane, WA; and three brothers Donald, Ronald and Mike Warner.

He was preceded in death by his pet and “man’s best friend” of 15 years, Angel in December 2010.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 1 pm at Heritage Funeral Home.
