That’s News to you answers
Here are the answers to this week’s quiz:
1. B. Airway Heights Mayor Patrick Rushing, who compared President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama to monkeys, said he did not realize his comments were racist. “I made a mistake. I owned up to my mistake,” Rushing said. “If I do resign, that’s admitting I’m a racist and I’m not.” Rushing has two years left in his term as mayor. He’s also running for a seat on the Cheney School District board.
2. D. Stabler had been Oakland’s second-round draft pick, but an injured knee and the presence of Daryle Lamonica and George Blanda at quarterback for the pro franchise got him sent to Spokane to play for the Continental Football League’s Shockers.
3. C. Reigning American League MVP Mike Trout led off the game with a home run. Trout muscled a 1-2, 94-mph fastball from N.L. starter Zack Greinke over the wall in right field. That and other plays earned him the MVP award for the game.
4. C. Derek Barron shot a 28 on the front nine and a 31 on the back to beat the previous record of 61, held by several others. Joel Dahmen was the last to card a 61 – about 10 years ago – and current Indian Canyon pro Gary Lindeblad accomplished the feat a couple of years before Dahmen.
5. D. From the receptionist that does the check-in and check-out to the porter that’s an automated trolley taking luggage up to the room, Weird Hotel is “manned” almost totally by robots to save labor costs. Another feature of the hotel is the use of facial recognition technology, instead of the standard electronic keys, by registering the digital image of the guest’s face during check-in. The reason? Robots aren’t good at finding keys, if people happen to lose them.
