Obituary: Sheehan, Robert James “Bob”
Age 94
Bob was born on December 8, 1920 in Rochester, New York, the son of Michael and Anna (Aman) Sheehan.
Bob was raised and attended school in Rochester.
He married Mildred “Milly” Shelter on August 8, 1942 in Rochester and in October of the same year Bob joined the United States Army.
He proudly served his country during WWII as a Radar Operator on New Guinea and in the Philippine Islands.
Bob was given his honorable discharge on January 5, 1946.
After returning home, he worked at Eastman Kodak until retiring in 1964 when Bob moved his family to Anaheim, CA.
After several years, his desire to live in Washington prevailed and he relocated to Kenmore.
While living in Kenmore, Bob was employed with Lockheed as a sheet metal fabricator and retired the second time in 1985.
In 1990, Bob and Milly made their home in Colville until his passing.
Bob loved the outdoors and when he had some free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was also very talented with his hands and spent some time woodworking.
Bob was an active member of the community.
He served as the past Post Commander of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He and Milly were a part of the Good Sam’s Camping Club and active members of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack; daughters, Lillie Fontaine, Suzanne Sheehan and Sheila Sheehan.
Bob is survived by his wife, Milly Sheehan; brother, Dick (June) of Rochester, NY; daughters, Barbara Korsmo and husband, Kevin, Peigi Sheehan, Teresa Sheehan, Kathleen O’Sheehan, Dezana Aman; sons, Bob Sheehan, Gary Sheehan, Mike Sheehan and his wife, Michelle; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
The services for Mr. Sheehan began with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Danekas Funeral Chapel, Colville, WA with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 24 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Colville, WA.
The graveside service was held at Calvary Cemetery, Colville, WA.
