STEM camp for girls

This week, Eastern Washington University is hosting 50 students for an American Association of University Women Tech Trek STEM camp.

The girls are being introduced to science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields including robotics, environmental science and mobile app development, which teaches young girls how to code and apply those skills to future careers in video games, fashion design and animation.

The camp runs through Saturday at EWU in Cheney.

CV grad Calligan awarded Ruddell prize

The Washington State Independent Auto Dealers Association recently awarded Central Valley High School graduate William Calligan with the Mac Ruddell Scholarship, a $1,000 prize, for his record of academic achievement in high school.

Calligan will attend Eastern Washington University in the fall.
