Obituary: Mcmullin, Sharon Kay

Age 73

McMULLIN, Sharon Kay April 5, 1942 - June 1, 2015 Sharon was born April 5, 1942 in Havre, Montana to Keith Stanley McMullin and Rosa Blendina Crain McMulllin.

Although born in Havre, the family lived in Chinook.

When she was ten years old the family moved to Moses Lake, Washington where she graduated from Moses Lake High school in 1956.

She died quietly at home in the loving presence of her family.

Sharon attended BYU and then graduated from Eastern Washington State College with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in March, 1965.

While there she played on the school tennis team.

From 1965-1966 she taught physical education in Wasilla, Alaska.

1966-1967 she worked as a clerk typist for the Army in Heidelberg, Germany.

For five and a half years between 1968 and 1973 she taught physical education and coached the first gymnastics team at Chief Moses Junior High.

While teaching at Moses Lake Junior High she met Judy Rish who was also teaching there.

They became life-long friends.

For one and a half years between 1973 and 1975 she taught physical education to both girls and boys at Springdale, Victoria, Australia.

While there she taught the boys American Style wrestling and they taught her Aussie style football and cricket.

Sharon returned to Eastern Washington University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.

She worked for Lakeland Village and then as a social worker for the State of Washington in Colville and Spokane for 23 years until her retirement in January, 2005.

Sharon was a sports enthusiast.

She loved tennis, golf, downhill and cross country skiing motorcycling, stain glass art work and fly-fishing.

At age 50 she and Judy took up sailing.

As members of the Lake Pend Oreille yacht club they won many sailing races in their yellow boat which they named ‘Stinger’.

Sharon was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She lived a full life and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her brother Larry Keith McMullin of Ogden, Utah and her sister Rosa Lynn (Rosie) Meservy of Centerville, Utah, and numerous nieces and nephews who adore their ‘Aunt Sharon’.

There will be a grave side service at the Centerville City Cemetery, in Centerville, Utah, Saturday June 6th, at 2pm.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the kind thoughts and condolences received from her many friends.
