Here are the answers to this week’s quiz:

1. C. Duane Hagadone is moving forward on a longtime plan to add a second hotel tower at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. A preliminary design shared with the city this year shows a narrow tower rising 19 stories above Front Avenue and over a portion of Hagadone Hospitality Corp.’s Resort Plaza Shops, reaching the downtown building height limit.

2. A. HAWK stands for “High-Intensity Activated crossWalK” signal or beacon. The system is being tested at Ruby Street and Boone Avenue and Grand Boulevard at 18th Avenue at Manito Park.

3. D. Marty Lees spent the last three years as the recruiting coordinator at Oklahoma State, where his first two recruiting classes were ranked No. 5 nationally by Collegiate Baseball. Prior to joining the Cowboys, Lees spent 11 years at Oregon State, working primarily as the defensive coach for infielders and catchers, serving as the Beavers’ recruiting coordinator his final six seasons in Corvallis.

4. D. The council decided to interview the 18 applicants June 10. The council expects to make a selection June 17. The temporary member will serve until Bates returns to the council or for one year, whichever comes first.

5. D. Mayor David Condon had made an informal commitment for environmental cleanup in the form of soil remediation to Walt Worthy, the hotel’s developer and owner, with the mayor saying the city could still be responsible for any polluted soil on the land because the city is in the “chain of custody” for the property.
