U-Hi students win design awards
Nine University High School students entered designs into the National Association of Women in Construction NAWIC Education Foundation CAD/Design/Drafting Competition, and all nine recently received prizes.
Students had to design a 3,000-square-foot house for a family of six with one paraplegic child. Local architects and construction managers then evaluated each student’s seven sheets of drawings.
The top three students, senior Mariah Judkins, and freshmen Gunnar Sly and Jared Block, received monetary prizes: $300, $200 and $100, respectively.
Judkins’ entry was sent to the regional competition, where she placed fourth.
