$10 bill takes women at face value

A few suggestions for the new $10 bill include, from left, the Statue of Liberty, Raquel Welch, Eleanor Roosevelt, Hedy Lamarr and Oprah Winfrey.

The $10 bill will feature a woman’s face in 2020, so we asked our Facebook friends whose face they’d like to see there. We received many serious answers and a little bit of snark. Here’s a sampling of the responses:

I’m thinking Oprah. What other woman has done more for women than Oprah?

I would like to put someone unattached with politics on the dollar, especially a scientist, philosopher or educator. But, we don’t value people enough in those areas to even remember what their names are. For now, I’d go with Rosa Parks. Her stand, or sit, was done alone, it was done peacefully and it rocked our part of the world. You have to wonder what was in her mind when she decided to do it. I doubt she thought she’d ever be famous due to this and the idea that she would most likely be beaten or possibly killed had to be floating through her mind.
