Obituary: Lamm, Clara-Jean
Margie was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Republic, WA, to Herbert and Sarah Foote.
Margie moved to Fairfield, WA, where she was raised with her brother, Herbert Foote.
She moved to Spokane, WA, where she met her wonderful husband of 60 years, Joseph Lamm, a member of the Air Force.
They married Dec. 5, 1954, and then moved to Virginia, where Joe had grown up.
She was employed with the American Red Cross, the Virginia school district and the book depository.
Together they had four children and returned not long after to the state of Washington.
Margie was an administrative assistant for over 35 years.
Most of those years were spent working in the Central Valley School District in University high School and North Pines, and retired while working at the district office.
Margie was an active member of her church at Opportunity Presbyterian Church in Spokane, WA, Lafayette St. United Methodist Church in Shelby, NC, and Church of the Nazarene in Ridgecrest, CA.
She was an active member of the choir in these churches and played handbells while in North Carolina.
Margie was heavily involved in the Order of the Eastern Star and served as a Grand Officer and as Worthy Matron several times in both Virginia and North Carolina.
During her retirement she enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking and volunteering at the local grade school as a reader and proctor.
She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandkids, to whom she was affectionately known as Memaw.
She always had a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face, one that will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her first-born son, her parents, her brother and one granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Lamm, and three daughters, Elizabeth McCain of Ridgecrest, CA, Shirley McGlynn of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Cheryl Duncan of Blue Springs, MO.
Also, Cecil Barrier, nephew, of Lawndale, NC, and niece Bonnie Lee of Oregon, Carolyn Finn of Savannah, GA, and James Lamm III of Lilburn, GA.
