Women’s basketball: EWU climbs to third in Big Sky
Melissa Williams hit a turnaround jumper with 27 seconds remaining, lifting the Eastern Washington women to a 62-58 Big Sky Conference victory over Idaho State at Reese Court in Cheney on Thursday night.
Williams recorded her 11th double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, and the Eagles (18-10, 11-6) moved into a tie for third place, with one game remaining.
Hayley Hodgins added 19 points for Eastern.
The Bengals’ (13-15, 8-9) Apiphany Woods led all scorers with 20.
Idaho 71, Weber State 42: Stacey Barr scored 21 points and the Vandals (13-15, 7-10) used a 42-point first half to blow out the Wildcats (11-17, 6-11) in Moscow, Idaho.
With a game remaining Idaho, Idaho State and Montana State are all vying for the final two spots in next week’s Big Sky tournament.
