Classes and workshops

Spokane Art School – Classes are at Spokane Art School, 809 W. Garland Ave., unless otherwise noted. Classes include: Spring Break Art Classes for Kids Zentagles: Students ages 8-10 will create a fun project using Zentangles designs with Tresia Oosting. April 7 and 10, 1-2:30 p.m. $18. Creature Scultpure: High school-age students will be introduced to sculpture media including sewing in 3-D, whittling, sculpting and felting with Sally Jablonsky. April 6 and 10. 3-4:30 p.m. $75, plus $15 lab fee. Comics with Kids!: Students in 5th, 6th and 7th grade will look at comics and at the different choices that go into making them. Then, they’ll make comics with Sally Jablonsky. April 8 and 10, 10 a.m.-noon. $40, plus $10 lab fee. Transforming Found Objects into Unique Painted Portraits : Donna Stroud will lead students as they select imagery for their portraits. Using a mirror will be encouraged. We will reuse surfaces to paint on. Fridays, April 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22. 4-7 p.m. $180 for six weeks.

Artisans at Dahmen BarnWild Women Art Series: Fused Glass Pendant (Sunday), Needle Felted Dryer Balls (March 22) and Paint Scenery with Acrylics (March 29). 1-4 p.m. $25 advanced, $35 day of class. Watercolor/Acrylic Workshop – This two-day workshop for artists of all skill levels is led by Wes Hanson. There will be an hour for lunch; bring a sack lunch or eat out. Limited to 15 students. Thursday-March 20, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. St. Luke Episcopal Church, 501 E. Wallace Ave., Coeur d’Alene. $175. City of Moscow Arts Commission, the 1912 Center and Heart of the Arts Workshops Basic Pastel Painting with Bonnie Griffith: Participants age 18 and over will learn the basics of pastel painting. Students provide their own pastels. A set of at least 20-30 Rembrandt, Unison, Schmincke or Sennelier is suggested. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. $150, covers both sessions, plus cost of supplies. 1912 Center, 412 Third St., Moscow. Experimental Pastel Painting with Bonnie Griffith: This workshop is for pastelists age 18 and over who have been working in pastels and want to take their work to the next level. Students will provide their own pastels. Artwalk 2015 Cover Art Contest – The City of Moscow and the Moscow Arts Commission are seeking submissions for the Artwalk 2015 cover art. The winning artist will receive $500. The deadline for submissions is Monday, April 6 by 5 p.m. Applications may be downloaded at www.ci.moscow.id.us/ records/Applications/Artwalk-Cover-Art- Application.pdf, picked up at the Arts Department in Moscow City Hall, or picked up at the Moscow Chamber of Commerce. ArtCurrents Program – The City of Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission is seeking artists for its ArtCurrents Program. The program consists of sculptures on loan from artists around the country. Information packets are available at City Hall or online at www.cdaid.org. Artist proposals are due by 5 p.m., July 10. Utility Box Beautification Project The City of Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission is seeking artists for its Utility Box Beautification project. The design must integrate all sides of a box to capture the interest of those that drive and walk by them. Information packets are available at City Hall, 710 E. One-Act Play Festival – The Pend Oreille Players Association, a nonprofit community theatre organization, is seeking original one-act plays to be produced at the Pend Oreille Playhouse Community Theatre.
