From staff reports
Spokane County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a fatal pedestrian-auto crash on Mission Avenue east of Progress Road in Spokane Valley. Sgt. Brett Gores said a male pedestrian was hit by an SUV around 5:30 a.m. A citizen bystander was attempting to give the man CPR when deputies arrived on scene. Deputies and medics were unable to resuscitate the man. The driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation, Gores said. Deputies do not believe he was impaired but are completing a drug test. Mission Avenue was closed for several hours while deputies investigated.
