Obituary: Perrenoud, Rick A.

Age 63

PERRENOUD, Rick A.

(Age 63) Trentwood Elementary… 6th Grade.

Rick held the Patrolman’s Flag high… Susan was taller than him, short pixie haircut; cats eye glasses, rhinestone corners.

“Hmm, he thought to himself, she’s a funny looking girl”.

From that day forward their fate was sealed.

Little did he know that 50 years later they would still be together living a very blessed, exciting and grateful life.

Rick suffered an intracranial hemorrhage to the back of his head on Sunday morning March 1 while working in his shop.

His heart stopped at 1:26 pm on March 2nd, surrounded by family and friends at SHMC.

Richard (Rick) Armond Perrenoud was born to Dale Fritz and Faye Louise (Thomas) Perrenoud on April 26, 1951 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

Diki Faye and Thomas S. followed.

Fritz and Faye both went on to teach in the Spokane Public Schools.

Their creativity, talent, and positive attitudes they passed on to their kids.

The Perrenoud Families spent many summers at Newman Lake and Rick loved the lake.

He attended LC and East Valley graduating in 1969, followed by some schooling at SCC.

His “69-er” buddies were a group to behold and have remained fast friends throughout their lives.

In 1969, Rick noticed that tall, gangly girl again walking the halls at EV.

Their eternal love affair started right there and lasted for 42 years of marriage.

Rick married Susan Rae (Inman) on May 19, 1973.

Rick’s drive and creative choices turned his interests to being his own businessman, a logger, a commercial and residential builder, constructing everything from the Channel 22 TV Tower, to beautiful cabins, and homes, sculptures, jewelry, inventions, he delighted in every act of creativity.

He always said everything he learned to do with his hands he learned from his Dad.

His Mom surrounded him in rainbows from birth creating a free spirit that shown through Rick’s everyday life giving him the reality of looking at each new day as a gift to behold and that all people were worthwhile.

Although they had no children of their own, their lives were surrounded with young people.

They found their dream Farm in 1984 on Four Mound Prairie and live there still.

Susan’s love of horses and Rick’s joy of the outdoors made the perfect match.

Together they produced a local Horse Expo “Ride The West” for 10 years.

Then began the new love of their later career lives….Storybook Farm Ponies.

From Riverfront Park to Walter’s Fruit Ranch and numerous events and parties in between Susan and “Buck” brought so much pony magic to adoring children and their parents.

Susan will carry this on.

Rick so loved his ponies, his friends, neighbors and the “International Fun Club”.

Rick was a loving, respectful, funny and caring husband, son, brother, uncle and friend…perfect with imperfection, but perfect none the less.

Our hearts are broken.

Rick is preceded in death by grand-parents on both sides, beloved Mother Faye Louise, Uncle Harvey Thomas, Aunt Bev, brother-in-law James O Hanson, beloved In-laws Russell F. and Helen A. Inman.

He is survived by his wife of 42 glorious years, Susan Rae (Inman); beloved “Pop” Fritz (Sue Hatcher), (Holly and Heather); adored sister Diki (Gary) Bettencourt, Hawaii; brother Thomas (Su-zi’ and Nikki) Austin, TX; beloved sisters-in-law Sharon (Kent) Ohland, Sandy Hanson (Russ and Lori, Cheryl and Matt, Mike and Sally, Amy and Ron, John Charles and Claire); beloved brother and sister-in-law Russel F. Jr. (Dug) and Joyce Inman (Joe, Lauren, Jess, Travis); grand nieces/nephews Jordyn, Madison, Kerrigan, Sydney, Blake, Brooks, Anders, Jacob, JayT, Taylor, Emma, Kaden, Seth and Zak.
