Obituary: Corder, Lenore L. (Giorgio)
The proud daughter of Italian parents, Lenore grew up near Culver City, CA and attended Hamilton High School.
There she met and married her high school sweetheart, John C. Corder, Jr., in 1946.
John served aboard the USS Flasher during WWII and preceded her in death on March 12, 1964.
As a child, Lenore worked briefly for MGM, appearing in the Marx Brothers film “A Night at the Opera”, and later worked for Woolworth’s.
She enjoyed classical music, playing the piano and spending sunny afternoons at Venice Beach with her cousins.
After John’s passing, she raised their three sons alone, eventually moving the family from Hawthorne, CA to Spokane, WA in 1972.
There she worked several years for Rosauers in the bakery department.
Some of Lenore’s greatest joys were finally gaining daughters when her sons married, and especially becoming a grandmother to Erin, Emily, Dan, Michael and Gina.
She loved them dearly and were the light of her life.
Lenore touched many lives, and is often recalled as the nicest person they’d ever known.
Lenore is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law Dan and Laurie Corder, Jim and Jean Corder, and Curt and Jan Corder; grandchildren Erin Corder-Brown (Raleigh), Emily Corder-Stone (Scott) and SPC Dan Corder; great-grandchildren Leonora and Vita Brown; sister-in-law Helen Cooley as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Her brother Richard and grandchildren Gina and Michael preceded her in death.
She will be deeply missed by all.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21 at 2 pm in the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave., Spokane, WA.
If desired, memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and/or Hospice of Spokane.
