Obituary: Lindquist, Mildred “Alene”

Age 94

LINDQUIST, Mildred “Alene” (Age 94) Passed into Glory on March, 15, 2015.

Alene was born May 2, 1920 to Oscar and Mae (Frans) Lindquist in Spokane, WA.

She attended Bancroft Grade School, Havermale Junior High and graduated from North Central High School in 1938.

She graduated from Kinman Business School.

She was employed at Spokesman Review, Lomox-Grimmer, and Great Northern Railway - retiring from Burlington Northern in Sales and Service Department in 1978.

She was active in Christian Business Women, Railway Business Women Group, Lilac Chapter of Business & Professional Women, Lydian’s Bible Study and other groups.

She was a member of Garland Avenue Alliance Church and after retiring from the railroad, worked as Church Secretary and Librarian.

In 1994, Alene moved to Riverview Terrace and resided there for more than 20 years.

At Riverview she served as Secretary of the Resident Council and Librarian.

Since 1936 she greatly enjoyed going to Rockaway Beach, Hayden Lake, Idaho.

She purchased her cabin there in 1948.

Alene traveled to many places and especially enjoyed two trips to the Holy Land.

She enjoyed correspondence with missionaries around the world and in recent years enjoyed emailing.

She volunteered at Empire Health, Hospice, and Scope and was Secretary for the Republican Action Club.

She also enjoyed reading and gardening.

Alene was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Mae Lindquist and her brother Rod Lindquist.

She is survived by sister-in-law Lois Lindquist of Gold Beach, Oregon, nephews Ken Lindquist and Wayne Lindquist (Cherry), and great-nephew Kyle.

A Memorial Service will be at Riverview Retirement Center at a later date.
