West regional

At Jacksonville, Fla.

Marcus Paige scored 22 points, including 20 in the second half, and the Tar Heels beat the Razorbacks on Saturday in the third round of the NCAA tournament, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time in three years. UNC (26-11) will make its 26th appearance in the Sweet 16. Michael Qualls led Arkansas (27-9) with 27 points and 10 rebounds.

Jalen Reynolds and Myles Davis came off the bench for a combined 38 points as The Musketeers ended the biggest feel-good story of the tournament with a victory over the Panthers. Georgia State (25-10), whose injured coach Ron Hunter and his son and star player, R.J., became the darlings of the tournament with an improbable comeback that eliminated Baylor on Thursday. R.J. was outstanding again, scoring 20 points. Reynolds, meanwhile, dominated inside for Xavier (23-13), scoring 21 points and grabbing six rebounds.

At Portland

Gabe York made five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points, T.J. McConnell also scored 19 points and the Wildcats advanced to the Sweet 16 for the third straight year with a victory over the Buckeyes. Arizona (33-3) overcame a sluggish start until their outside shooting busted the Buckeyes’ rarely used zone defense. The Wildcats went ahead by 15 points with 6:34 remaining and held off Ohio State (24-11).

South regional

At Portland

(4) Georgetown 64

Brandon Taylor scored 14 points and Delon Wright added 12 and the Utes beat the Hoyas and are headed back to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2005. L.J. Peak led Georgetown (22-11) with 18 points. Utah (26-8) shot 57 percent from 3.

At Louisville, Ky.

Tony Parker led five Bruins in double figures with a career-high 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as UCLA beat the Blazers to advance to its second straight Sweet 16. The Bruins (22-13) improved No. 11 seeds to a perfect 5-0 against 14 seeds. With Parker inside, UCLA outrebounded UAB 41-26 and had an even bigger scoring edge in the paint at 52-22. Robert Brown led the Blazers (20-16) with 25 points.

Midwest regional

At Pittsburgh

(6) Butler 64

Jerian Grant scored 16 points, including the clinching layup with 18 seconds left in overtime, and the Irish edged the Bulldogs. Notre Dame (31-5) moved on to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2003. Steve Vasturia led Notre Dame with 20 points. The Irish beat Butler for the first time in 26 years. Roosevelt Jones played through an injured left knee while scoring 23 points for Butler (23-11).

At Louisville, Ky.

Aaron Harrison scored 13 points, Trey Lyles added 11 with 11 rebounds and the Wildcats withstood the Bearcats to remain undefeated and reach the Sweet 16 for the second straight season. Kentucky (36-0) picked up its sixth straight double-digit win with a strong finish, holding Cincinnati to just 24 percent shooting after halftime. Troy Caupain had 13 points for Cincy (23-11).

East regional

At Pittsburgh

(8) North Carolina State 71

(1) Villanova 68

The Wolfpack are back in the Sweet 16, attacking for 40 minutes and stunning the top-seeded Wildcats. Trevor Lacey led N.C. State (22-13) with 17 points. Villanova (33-3) saw a 16-game winning streak end and has not reached the Sweet 16 since 2009.
