In brief: Wild top Isles for 10th road win in a row

NHL: Zach Parise scored the tying goal, his 29th of the season, midway through the third period, then added another in the shootout to help the Minnesota Wild beat the New York Islanders 2-1 on Tuesday in Uniondale, New York, for their 10th straight road win.

Parise’s shootout attempt hit the post to the right of Jaroslav Halak and trickled in after it bounced off the goalie’s leg.

John Tavares scored his team-best 34th of the season for the Islanders.

Devan Dubnyk made 37 saves for the Wild. Minnesota is a league-best 24-6-2 since Jan. 15, when Dubnyk was acquired from Arizona. The Wild are 14-1-2 in their last 17 road games.

• Forsberg’s goal lifts Predators past Canadiens in OT: Filip Forsberg scored a power-play goal at 1:54 of overtime, and the Nashville Predators rallied to beat the visiting Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in a game between two of the NHL’s top teams.

Pekka Rinne made 27 saves in his 39th win. He pulled within a victory of Montreal goalie Carey Price in this showdown between the league’s winningest goalies this season.

Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Ellis scored for the Predators, who stayed a point behind first-place St. Louis in the Central Division.

Brendan Gallagher and David Desharnais scored in the second period for Montreal, which had won three in a row.

• Steen’s winner in OT lifts Blues over Penguins: Alexander Steen redirected Zbynek Michalek’s shot from the point into the net 35 seconds into overtime, lifting the visiting St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

St. Louis snapped a three-game losing streak. Jake Allen stopped 22 shots for St. Louis as the Blues remained atop the Central Division at the end of a season-long, six-game road trip.

Blake Comeau and Steve Downie scored for Pittsburgh.

Warriors top Blazers to clinch division

NBA: Stephen Curry had 33 points and 10 assists and the visiting Golden State Warriors pulled away from the Portland Trail Blazers in the second half for a 122-108 victory, clinching the team’s first division title in 39 years.

The Warriors won their seventh straight to push their record to an NBA-best 58-13.

Damian Lillard had 29 points for the Blazers, who have lost five straight.

• Ellis has 38 points, Mavericks rally to beat Spurs: Monta Ellis matched his season high with 38 points and the Dallas Mavericks rallied in the second half to defeat the visiting San Antonio Spurs 101-94.

In three games this season against the Spurs, Ellis is averaging 34 points.

Dirk Nowitzki collected 15 points and 13 rebounds and Chandler Parsons added 15 for the Mavericks.

Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs with 19 points and Danny Green added 17.

• Westbrook scores 27, Thunder defeat Lakers: NBA scoring leader Russell Westbrook poured in 27 points and added 11 assists and Enes Kanter contributed 25 points and 16 rebounds as the Thunder beat the Lakers 127-117 in Oklahoma City for their fourth straight victory.

Jordan Clarkson scored 30 for the Lakers, who lost for the 10th time in their last 12 games.

Stanford beats Vandy to reach NIT semis

NIT: Anthony Brown scored a season-high 26 points and dealt a hard hit that sent 7-footer Luke Kornet to the locker room with a concussion midway through the second half, and Stanford held off Vanderbilt 78-75 in Stanford, California, for a berth in the NIT semifinals.

• Miami rallies to reach 1st NIT semifinal in school history: Sheldon McClellan gave Miami its first lead of the game with 1:02 remaining and the Hurricanes rallied from 18 points down to beat Richmond 63-61 in Richmond, Virginia, to advance to their first NIT semifinal. McClellan led Miami with 16 points.

Sharper pleads guilty in sex assault

Miscellany: Former NFL player Darren Sharper pleaded guilty in Las Vegas to reduced felony attempted sex assault as part of a four-state plea deal that will put him to federal prison for about nine years.

On Monday, the 39-year-old Sharper pleaded guilty to sexual assault in Arizona and no contest to raping two women he drugged in Los Angeles.

Sharper is due in federal court in New Orleans on April 6.

• Probation ordered in point-shaving case: A former University of Toledo basketball player who accepted at least $3,000 from a gambler to miss shots and make other mistakes from 2004-2006 was sentenced to probation in Detroit in a decade-old point-shaving scandal.

Sammy Villegas is the first of seven former Rockets to be sentenced this spring.

Villegas, 32, had faced as much as 30 months in prison but U.S. District Judge Mark Goldsmith ordered three years of probation and 100 hours of community service.

• Sounders earn 2-2 tie with Club Tijuana: Andy Rose scored in the 56th minute and the Seattle Sounders rallied to tie Club Tijuana 2-2 in an international friendly in Seattle.

Lamar Neagle also scored for the Sounders, who are 1-1-0 in the early stages of Major League Soccer play.
