People: Actress apologizes after accusing police of profiling son

Actress Taraji P. Henson has apologized to police in the Southern California city of Glendale for accusing an officer of racially profiling her son.
Henson posted a statement on Instagram on Friday afternoon, hours after the Glendale Police Department released video of a traffic stop of the actress’ son that showed the officer respectfully dealing with the 20-year-old.
“A mother’s job is not easy and neither is a police officer’s,” Henson wrote on the social networking site. “Sometimes as humans we overreact without gathering all the facts. As a mother in this case I overreacted and for that I apologize.
“Thank you to that officer for being kind to my son,” Henson wrote.
Henson accused a Glendale police officer of profiling her son in an interview with Uptown magazine.
The Los Angeles Times obtained the video of the October traffic stop of Henson’s son, Marcell, for driving through a lighted crosswalk while a pedestrian was walking in it.
Henson acknowledged he had marijuana in his backpack and was cited for having it without a valid prescription.
Malik says he stayed in band for fans
Zayn Malik says he worries that he’s let One Direction fans down by leaving the world-conquering boy band, but couldn’t carry on in a role that made him unhappy. Malik quit the group this week, saying he wanted “to be a normal 22-year-old.”
He had earlier pulled out of One Direction’s world tour, citing stress.
He told Friday’s edition of Britain’s Sun newspaper that “I did try to do something that I wasn’t happy doing for a while” to keep fans happy.
“I only ever tried to do it for the fans, and it was only ever for them,” he said.
He said he felt upset that “I may have let them down in some sort of way.”
“It’s not that I’ve turned my back on them or anything, it’s just that I can’t do that anymore because it’s not real to me,” he said.
The four remaining members say they will carry on as One Direction.
Nelson back for ‘Coach’ remake
Craig T. Nelson is getting back in the coaching game for NBC. The network said that it has ordered 13 episodes of a sequel to the 1989-97 ABC sitcom “Coach” that starred Nelson as Hayden Fox, head coach of a college football team.
In the new series, nearly 20 years have passed and Fox has retired from coaching, NBC said Thursday. That’s until he’s called in to serve as assistant coach to his grown son, the new head coach at an Ivy League school in Pennsylvania.
