Obituary: Dummitt, David Lawrence

Age 58

DUMMITT, David Lawrence (Age 58) David, our beloved husband, father, son, and brother passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2015.

He was born in Moscow, ID to Harold and Eva Dummitt on October 28, 1956.

After high school graduation from Kaneohe, Hawaii in 1975, he enlisted in to the U.S. Navy.

He served a total of 26 years active and reserve, retiring as Senior Chief in 2009.

He earned a high enlisted honor of Meritorious Service Medal in 2008 for service in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

In his civilian career he was a Caterpillar heavy equipment mechanic for 20 years.

He changed careers in 2000 re-training at SCC for Computer Engineering AAS degree.

He was happily employed by the Deer Park School District for 12 years as an Information Technologist.

Dave lived simply, loved his friends and family and had strong faith in God.

Dave’s love and devotion to the military was exemplary.

He was active on the boards of the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) and the VFW Post 51.

He also enjoyed going to church, reading, hunting and camping.

He is survived by his parents; his wife of 13 years, Deanna Dummitt; his son Christian (Jordan) Dummitt; his daughters Hannah Dummitt and Sarah (Ryan) Coello; sister Kathy (Glen) Dalberg; nephew Phillip Dalberg; and his niece Erin (Josh) Gladish.

There will be a Graveside Service at Eastern Washington Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:15, with a memorial service following at 2:00 pm at Sunrise Church of Christ, 4718 N. Ash St, Spokane, WA 99205.
