Obituary: Mcgrath, Michael David
Age 76
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene and his sister, Janice.
He is sur- vived by his brother, Daniel; his three children: Ann (David) Wax, Colleen (Bryan) Alves, and Trish (Ed) Iverson.
He is also survived by his many loving grandchildren.
Mike was born in Spokane on September 14, 1938.
Mike served in the Navy and was stationed in Japan.
After leaving the Navy, he worked at the Inland Empire Paper Company and met and married his wife, Marlene.
Soon after, he began his own construction business and built many fine homes all over Spokane and Western Washington.
He loved fishing, the outdoors, and spending time with his friends and family.
Mike was a hardworking, honest, and proud man.
He had a great sense of humor and would give the shirt off his back for a friend.
His mechanical ability and craftsmanship defined him.
His sense of humor and affectionate nature will be missed greatly.
He showed such strength and bravery when dealing with the devastating effects of Parkinson’s disease; developing a grace that brought those around him peace.
He has now joined his loving wife in eternal rest.
The world is a better place for having had him in it.
The viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm on this Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Hennessey Smith Funeral Home on Division.
A rosary will follow at 7:00 pm that same evening.
A funeral service will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 10:00 am with a burial service at Holy Cross Cemetery at 11:30 am.
All who knew him are welcome to come and celebrate his life.
