Obituary: Rasmussen, Dawn Evelyn (Marston)

Age 91

RASMUSSEN, Dawn Evelyn (Marston) (Age 91) Passed away May 5, 2015 in Spokane, WA.

Dawn was born on April 27th, 1924, the daughter of James B. and Florence (Ericson) Marston.

She married Wayne Stewart “Stewie” Rasmussen on November 7th, 1942 and they were married for 61 years before Stewie passed away in 2004.

Dawn and Stewie had five children and lived the majority of their lives in Rockford, IL before moving to their dream lake house at Bottle Bay on Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho.

Dawn graduated from Rockford High School and went on to a career in real estate.

Dawn was one of the first women realtors in Rockford.

When they lived in Rockford, Dawn was an active member of Third Presbyterian Church and had been a member of the women’s chorus.

Dawn and Stewie were also active members of Cotillion Club and attended many dances.

They also loved to travel and trips to Hawaii were a special part of their lives.

Dawn and Stewie were fondly referred to as “the dessert twins” because they were always together and they loved desserts.

Dawn is survived by Jody (Marigene) Rasmussen of Phoenix, AZ; Jill (Steve) Marzorati of Rockford, IL; Michael Rasmussen of Phoenix, AZ; Scott Rasmussen of Spokane, WA, and Reuben Streifel, Spokane, WA.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dawn was predeceased by her husband, “Stewie”, in 2004 and her daughter, Sandra Striefel, who passed away last September.

The family would like to thank extended family Don and Li Lewis and Robert Moore, as well as Dawn’s special caregivers at Rose Pointe Assisted Living.

There will be a private service at the lake house in Idaho on June 14th.

There will also be a celebration of Dawn and Sandra’s lives on August 1st, 2015 at their home in Sagle, ID.
