Announced NFL owners will consider three proposals for changing the extra point when they hold their spring meetings next week. New England has suggested snapping the ball from the 15 for a one-point kick or placing the ball at the 2-yard line for a 2-point try. Philadelphia proposes snapping from the 15 for the kick, but moving the ball to the 1 for a 2-point conversion. The Eagles also want the defense to be able to score on a turnover. The competition committee offers the same as the Eagles, except the 2-point conversion would come from the 2-yard line.
• The United States Golf Association has chosen Bandon Dunes in Oregon to be the site of the 2020 U.S. Amateur tournament.
Penalized The IndyCar Series penalized Helio Castroneves, docking him eight points in the drivers’ standings and blaming him for causing a wreck during the opening lap of last weekend’s Grand Prix of Indianapolis. IndyCar said the Team Penske driver violated the rule on avoidable contact.

Cleared Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem has been cleared by FIFA to play for the United States and has been added to the roster for the Under-20 World Cup next month.
Died Former North Carolina head basketball coach Bill Guthridge, the longtime assistant to Dean Smith who succeeded him as the Tar Heels’ head coach, has died. He was 77. Guthridge went 80-28 from 1997-2000, reaching Final Fours in 1998 and 2000 before retiring that June.
Stripped The U.S. men’s sprint relay team has been stripped of its silver medal from the 2012 London Olympics as a result of Tyson Gay’s doping case. The International Olympic Committee notified the U.S. Olympic Committee by letter that the team has been disqualified and the medals withdrawn. Gay returned his own medal last year after accepting a one-year doping suspension.
