The University Health Network hospital in Toronto said Melnyk remains in the intensive care unit, but he had been awake, smiling and answering questions.

The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected arguments by several retirees that the class-action settlement on behalf of around 25,000 players was unfair.
Announced Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez said he will leave the Catalan club after 17 trophy-laden seasons in which he set club records for appearances and titles won.
