The Federal Way boys and girls are the defending champions. The Lewis and Clark and Central Valley girls should challenge for trophies.
Returning area state placers: Boys – Nick Johnson, Gonzaga Prep (110 hurdles, 7th; high jump, 6th); Bryan Anderson, Mead (300h, 3rd). Girls – Carrie Jacka, Mead (pole vault, state champ).
Ranked No. 1: Johnson; Noah Martin, University (hj); Anna Fomin, Central Valley (400); Anna Rodgers, Lewis and Clark (long jump).
3A outlook
The Kamiakin girls are favored to capture a fourth straight title. In the boys, Bellevue is defending champ.

2A outlook
The Sehome girls and Olympic boys are defending champions. The East Valley boys finished runner-up and the EV girls took fourth. The West Valley boys will contend for a title and the Pullman girls will chase a trophy.
