Expedited security checkpoint to open in Tri-Cities Airport

Tri-City Herald

Frequent travelers using the Tri-Cities Airport will soon be able to get through security a little bit quicker and have more flight options.

The Transportation Security Administration will run a dedicated line for members of its Pre-Check program and low-risk passengers at the airport in Pasco beginning Monday, a news release said. The line will be available during peak times, particularly in the morning when the airport’s security checkpoint tends to be congested.

Travelers do have to sign up for Pre-Check in advance and it does require them to verify their citizenship status and be fingerprinted. However, airport officials said a recent test run of the Pre-Check program showed 40 percent of people using the Tri-Cities Airport already are signed up.

Delta Air Lines has also announced it’s adding three daily flights between Pasco and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport beginning Nov. 1 through its Delta Connection service operated by SkyWest Airlines. The new service is part of Delta’s plans to grow flight capacity by 2 percent this year.
