Obituary: Coy, Michael Grant

COY, Michael Grant Spokane native, Michael Grant Coy, passed away in Yuma, AZ on April 20, 2015.

Mike was born in Spokane to Robert G. Coy and C. Elgene Coy (Martin).

Mike is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Roberta; mother, C. Elgene Kienholz (Wes); five children: David Coy, Jay Coy (BilliJo), Rhonda Murphy (Jim), Barbara Bartholomae (Dave), and Tara Coy; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, father-in-law, Dee Nolen; brother-in-law Earl “Skip” Nolen; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert and his sister, Beth Swindle.

Mike graduated from West Valley High School in 1961.

He worked for Kaiser Trentwood.

He served in the Army and spent more time than he liked in Vietnam.

He joined Spokane Fire District I in 1970.

He loved the job and the people he worked with.

It was a sad day when heart issues forced him to retire in 1988.

He spent his later years carving and helping others with projects.

After Roberta retired they travelled full time in their RV before settling down in Yuma.

On June 6, 12:00 - 4:00, a Celebration of Mike’s life will be held at the VFW Post 1435, 212 S. David St, Spokane.

At 12:00 the Flag Ceremony and the Fire Department Bag Pipes and Eulogy will be held.
