Canada turns to Mike Babcock as coach for 2016 World Cup

TORONTO – Mike Babcock is back to coach Canada at the World Cup of Hockey.

Coming off back-to-back Olympic gold medals, Babcock will lead the staff next fall in the return of the World Cup tournament next fall.

Claude Julien of the Boston Bruins, Joel Quenneville of the Chicago Blackhawks, Barry Trotz of the Washington Capitals and Bill Peters of the Carolina Hurricanes will work under Babcock.

Julien was with Babcock in Sochi when Canada went on an undefeated run to gold.

Quenneville, Trotz and Peters are the new members of the staff.

Babcock will coach Canada in Toronto while serving as coach of the Maple Leafs.
