Television thefts rising again

A rash of thefts of televisions from RV’s has once again hit Freedom RV in the 19000 block of East Cataldo Avenue, leading the company to hire overnight security.

Television thefts were reported on Nov. 2 and Nov. 7. “They’re coming in the backside of the property, cutting their way through the fence,” said Liberty Lake Police Chief Brian Asmus.

Surveillance video at the Valley HUB, which is behind Freedom RV, has recorded some suspicious vehicles, Asmus said.

The business’ new security guard called police at 3 a.m. Monday to report someone cutting through the back fence again, Asmus said. The person was gone when police arrived.

Asmus said he will recommend that Freedom RV get rid of their chain link fence and replace it with something similar to the sturdy electrified metal fence next door at Camping World. That business has not had any theft problems, Asmus said.
