Obituary: Putnam, Thomas C. “Tom”

Age 78

PUTNAM, Thomas C. “Tom” Thomas Charles “Tom”, Putnam, 78, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on October 30th surrounded by family and friends.

Tom was born in Tacoma, Washington April 4, 1937, to Edgar and Doris (Hull) Putnam.

After graduating from the University of Washington, Tom served in the Navy as a Lieutenant (LTJG), and an underwater demolitionist of the USN Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) special weapons disposal team.

Tom built a successful 29 year career with IBM.

He married Judy Bell, and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary next spring.

Tom and Judy shared their love of traveling with family and friends.

Their two sons, Brad (Montana) and Chas (Arizona) will cherish memories of snow and waterskiing, boating and fishing with their dad.

The family lived in Spokane, WA, San Jose, CA.

Boise, ID and Issaquah, WA.

After retiring they moved to Gilbert, AZ.

Tom is survived by his wife Judy; sons Brad (Ann Marie, and granddaughter’s Molly, and Emma), Thomas Chas Jr. (Heidi, and grandson Rex); brother, David E. Putnam; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials will be held for Tom in Gilbert, AZ and Spokane, WA at a later date.
