Men’s basketball: Jurlina, Pirates rout Northwest

Christian Jurlina scored 20 points and the Whitworth men’s basketball team opened up a 27-point first-half lead and eased past Northwest 84-54 in a nonconference game Saturday in Spokane.

Derek Isaak added 16 points and Forest Baker and Kyle Roach each chipped in 11 for the Pirates (3-0).

The Pirates committed just four turnovers and held Northwest (2-4) to 34 percent shooting from the floor.

North Idaho routs Green River

Braian Angola Rodas made 11 of 14 shots and finished with 27 points, six rebounds and five assists as North Idaho routed Green River 80-52 in a nonconference game in Auburn, Washington.

Kyle Guice and Brayon Blake added 16 points apiece for the Cardinals, who shot 56 percent from the field (32 of 57) and held a 38-27 rebounding advantage.

Marcus Harris scored a team-high 13 points for Green River.
