Obituary: Janson, Betty Ruth
Age 93
She was born Betty Ruth Lowe on a cold wintery day, February 21, 1922 in Miles City and was raised on a ranch in her beloved Montana.
During World War II she moved to Spokane and worked at Fairchild Air Force Base.
She also worked for the Army Corps of Engineers.
Eventually she once again embraced her love of the country life when she married Wilbur Janson at Portland, OR and they made their home near Latah, WA where they farmed.
Betty raised three children, helped with the farming operation, and worked at the Bank of Latah.
She drove truck during harvest and still found time to become an artist, author and pastry “chef” who perfected the German chocolate cake and caramels, simply known as “Betty Janson Caramels”.
She was blessed with three children, James (Gayle) Janson of Boise, ID, Linda (Jeff) McClure of Kent, WA, and Cary (Linda) Janson of Latah, WA; six grandchildren, Caycee Bonbright, Chris, Cody, Chase, Cole, and Calley Janson; and six-plus great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur Janson in 1998, and her three siblings, Beulah Hoagland, James Lowe, and her twin Bonnie Lee.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Evergreen Cemetery at Latah, WA.
Pastor Mark Mewhinney will officiate at the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be greatly appreciated to the Latah Country Bible Church, Latah Evergreen Cemetery, and the Alzheimer’s Association and Dementia Society of America.
