Obituary: Pratt, Andrew W. “Andy”
His death came less than a year following that of his beloved wife, Carolyn, who he tirelessly cared for during her five-year struggle with Pick’s Disease.
Andy and Carolyn resided in Veradale, Washington for the last 24 years.
Andy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, but grew up in Mount Pleasant, Utah, where he graduated from the Wasatch Academy.
He went on to receive a Bachelors Degree from the University of Utah, taking a two-year break from his studies to serve his country in the Korean War.
He and Carolyn married in 1956 and Andy went on to work for Chevron USA for the next 34 years, retiring in 1990 as a Retail Area Manager.
Andy set high standards for himself and his family.
He was strong-willed, disciplined, and a perfectionist.
He loved classical music, boating on Lake Coeur d’Alene, and driving about in his convertible roadster.
He and Carolyn cherished each other’s company, whether vacationing in far away places or gardening at home in their immaculately maintained yard.
They were united as a couple, devoted as spouses, and extremely proud as parents.
Andy is survived by his two children, Catherine (Cassidy) and Robert; five grandchildren, Sarah, Grace, Lizzie, James, and Jzaurdan; and by two great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Linneah.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Mausoleum Chapel, located at Pines Cemetery, 12116 E. 16th St., Spokane Valley, WA 99206, on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
