Letter: Fortunate to be under protection of Spokane police, paramedics

While I have been aware of the negative tone of many recent items in both the local and national press regarding police, it was not until we recently experienced a personal need for their assistance and for that of Spokane Fire Department paramedics that we realized just how fortunate we are here in Spokane.

When we reported a break-in and assault at our home, the police were there immediately, and they subsequently brought in the paramedics to care for the victim of the assault. As a result, the police department detectives were able to apprehend the criminal responsible in an amazingly short time, and no one suffered a life-threatening consequence from his criminal acts.

The amazing competency, the kindness and caring exhibited by all of these Spokane professionals was simply overwhelming. We are enormously grateful to have such outstandingly able and dedicated public servants on our side. Spokane is fortunate, indeed!
