1. The Round 8 p.m. Saturday, the Bartlett, 228 W. Sprague Ave. Songwriters, slam poets and visual artists will share the stage and create while the audience sits only a few feet away. 2. “The Giver” 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Oct. 28-30, Coeur d’Alene High School, 5530 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Coeur d’Alene High School theater department presents a play based on the award-winning book by Lois Lowry. Discover what it means to grow up, grow wise and take control of your own destiny. 3. The Man Show Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St., Spokane Valley. Third annual event for men features more than 100 vendors, live music, two beer gardens, barbecue competition, rock crawling exhibition, Nerf Wars by Strike Zone, football toss, dirt go kart races, MMA matches, paintball shooting range, helicopter rides and more. 7. Spokane British Brass Band’s “Autumn Leaves” 3 p.m. Sunday, North Central High School, auditorium, 1600 N. Howard St. First concert of the 2015-16 concert season features a 25-piece British-style brass band. Some of the proceeds of the concert will go to the North Central High School Band. This concert will be under the direction of the group’s new artistic director, Chris Grant. (509) 999-8717 Admission: $10 adults and students, free for children

8. Author Bruce Holbert 6 p.m. Tuesday, 324 E St., Endicott, Former St. John/Endicott High School teacher (currently at Mt. Spokane) will read from and sign copies of his novel “The Hour of Lead” at the Endicott Library. His novel, set in the Grand Coulee, Davenport and Colfax areas over a span of about 80 years, won the Washington State Book Award for fiction. 9. “What is Eco Poetry?” 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cataldo Globe Room, Gonzaga University, 502 E. Boone Ave. Part of the Gonzaga University Visiting Writers Series. Reading features Roger Dunsmore, University of Montana professor and widely published poet; Megan Kaminski, a writer and professor at the University of Kansas; Linda Russo, a poet and professor at Washington State University; and Derek Sheffield, writer and professor at Wenatchee Valley College.
