Obituary: Overbey, Leroy Donald “Lee”
Age 78
Lee is survived by his wife, Marilyn Connolly-Overbey, daughter Dawn Overbey of Spokane; his four sisters: Joan Rushing (husband Elbe) of Reno, NV; Lois Carter (husband Jerry) of Spokane; Marie Overbey of Spokane; Patti Gray of Las Vegas; his brother Bob (wife Kathy) of Riverside, CA; numerous nieces and nephews; four stepsons: Fr.
Scott Connolly of Bellingham; Mark Connolly and family of Kelso; Dan Connolly and family of Olympia; Sean Connolly and family of Lacey; and one stepdaughter, Andrea McNItt and family of Spokane.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents: Leroy and Elizabeth Overbey, son: Curtis Lee Overbey, and nephew David Carter.
Lee was born in Chicago and was raised in Azusa, CA.
He served in the US Navy from 1955-58 on the USS Duncan as a boiler man.
After his service in the military, Lee worked as a machinist in California.
Eventually, he owned his own machine shop in Spokane where he worked while he raised his family.
He received an AA in Airframe and Powerplant degree from Spokane Community College and became an airline mechanic for United Airlines where he worked until his retirement in 2000.
After his retirement, Lee and Marilyn moved to Anderson Island and later to the Jubilee Retirement Community in Lacey.
During Lee’s retirement he dedicated much of his time to pursuing his dream to build and fly his own airplane.
Lee obtained his private pilot’s license.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey.
There will be a Rosary at 8:00 PM on Friday, October 30th.
The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday the 31st at 11:00 AM with refreshments to follow.
