Danner makes ‘Dreams’ resonate

Rick Bentley Tribune News Service

New DVD releases range from the emotional to the action-packed.

• “I’ll See You In My Dreams” • • •  1/2: An older woman (Blythe Danner) begins to question her life.

“I’ll See You in My Dreams” is a beautiful and smart coming-of-old-age film. In her darkest moments, Carol begins to doubt that she’s had a life well-lived. It resonates with those who are reaching the later years of their lives.

Danner embraces the role with a quiet energy and a skittish passion.

• “Mad Max: Fury Road” • •  1/2: Max is forced into helping a driver who is trying to rescue a group of women. Tom Hardy stars. “Mad Max: Fury Road” is like watching your buddy play a video game for two hours. It relies more on adrenaline than intellect. If that’s what you want, then “Mad Max: Fury Road” is a high-octane blast. Others should take a different path.
