In brief: Symphony concert delayed a day by rain
A free Spokane Symphony concert in Liberty Lake that had been scheduled for tonight has been postponed by a day because of expected rain.
The symphony’s annual Labor Day concert at Pavillion Park, 727 N. Molter Road, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, said Bob Schneidmiller, president of the Friends of Pavillion Park.
The symphony’s free Labor Day concert scheduled for Comstock Park in Spokane still is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday.
The National Weather Service said the chance for rain in Spokane on Saturday is 100 percent. But it should be partly sunny on Sunday and Monday.

Motorcyclist dies in crash
A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday evening when he struck a pickup in Hillyard.
The man was driving south on Market Street about 6 p.m. when he struck a northbound Ford pickup turning west on Garland Avenue, said Spokane police Lt. J.D. Anderson.
Police were talking to witnesses to determine if the motorcyclist entered the intersection on a yellow or red light.
“We do have reports that the motorcyclist was driving recklessly before the crash,” Anderson said.
The motorcyclist, who lived in the neighborhood, died at the scene.
The identity of the motorcyclist will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office. Police have not released the name of the man driving the truck.
The intersection was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash.
