Prep football: Shadle Park stops Lakeside (Seattle) in overtime
Griffin Bacon made the big play, Mac Booey booted the clutch kick and Shadle Park edged Lakeside of Seattle 13-10 in overtime during a nonleague game at Albi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Lakeside’s first possession of OT came to an abrupt halt when Bacon intercepted a third-down pass from Lions quarterback A.J. Allen, setting up Booey’s winning 26-yard field goal.
T.J. Trout scored Shadle Park’s lone touchdown, a 4-yard run in the third quarter.
The Highlanders (1-0) play Richland at Albi on Friday in another nonleaguer.
Olympia 42, Ferris 0: Scott Gunther ran for 94 yards on 19 carries and scored two touchdowns and the Bears routed the Saxons (0-1) at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
Olympia racked up 35 first-half points and amassed 354 yards of total offense, compared to 51 for the Saxons.
Olympia scored on all but two of its drives, and finished with 22 first downs – the Bears were 10 for 12 on third-down conversions.
The Saxons play at Coeur d’Alene on Friday.
Republic 56, Entiat 44: Aaron Fritz ran for 182 yards on 20 carries and scored two touchdowns and Trang Tran threw for 196 yards and three scores as Republic (1-0) outlasted host Entiat.
Entiat jumped ahead 20-10 in the first quarter, but couldn’t hold off Republic’s charge.
Republic scored 22 unanswered points in the second quarter.
Liberty Bell 70, Northport 6: Derek Alumbaugh ran for 149 yards and four scores and threw for 121 yards and two touchdowns as the Mountain Lions roared past the host Mustangs (0-1).
Northport committed six turnovers, including three fumbles inside its 30-yard line.

Wilbur-Creston 38,
Springdale 14: Kyle Bodeau ran for 102 yards and two touchdowns and the Wildcats (1-0) got their offense rolling late in a win over the Chargers (0-1) in Wilbur. Wilbur-Creston scored 22 fourth-quarter points to pull away.
The Wildcats forced five turnovers, including Devin Magers’ interception that he returned for a touchdown. The game was played on Saturday. An incorrect score was provided in Saturday’s paper.
