Obituary: Mcdermott, Gerald Allen “Gary”

Age 80

MCDERMOTT, Gerald Allen “Gary” (Age 79) Gary passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 7, 2015 at home.

He was born in Spokane, WA to Vern and Hettie McDermott, on September 15, 1935.

Gary lived his childhood in Prosser and Finley, WA and graduated from River View High School in 1953.

After graduation, he attended Gonzaga University.

In 1955, he joined the US Navy until 1961.

He worked for Kaiser Aluminum Mead Plant where he traveled to Germany, Ghana, Africa and Wales.

He retired from Kaiser Mead and went on to work for Seafirst/Bank of America as a Corporate Security Manager retiring in 2000.

He enjoyed his retirement years golfing and especially the cold beer.

He also loved his Seahawks, Zags and Mariners.

He and his wife wintered in Casa Grande, AZ making a lot of new wonderful friends.

He loved to travel, go on cruises and went to numerous countries with his loving wife Margaret.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, the love of his life for 23 years; daughters: Kimberly (Glenn) Dennison, Melinda Weimer; son Barry McDermott; step-son James Kamura; grandchildren: Brandon Huffman, Shawnda Huffman, Travis McDermott, Chase Weimer, Emma and Jacob Kamura; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death but not forgotten by Gary, were his parents, his brother Tom, sister Laura and his first wife Sandra.

Gary will be dearly missed and we will forever cherish our memories of his love and playful fun, loving spirit in our hearts.

He lived a great, full life and God has called him home.

Viewing will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 10 am-5 pm at Heritage Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home.
